Making Empowering Decisions and Choices
Where you are in your life right now is a result of all the choices and decisions that you have made in your life so far. You may be consciously aware of some of the choices and decisions that you have made in the past. For example, where to live, the job to apply for, the person to marry, how many children to have, and so on. There may also be other decisions that you made in the past that you are unaware of. For example, how you subconsciously interpreted a date, interview or presentation as rejection. This is because we can make decisions both consciously and subconsciously; and both of these decisions drive our actions and our results in life.
Some choices and decisions that you made in the past are probably empowering you and serve you well now, while others may be disempowering or limiting you in some way now. Perhaps some of the decisions and choices that you made in the past empowered you at the time, and now that decision or choice is inappropriate for where you want to be in your life.
Sometimes we can make decisions and choices because we don’t know what we really want, we feel we should or have to make them, someone tells us to make them or to please other people, rather than because we really want those things. These are all examples of limiting decisions and choices. Once we resolve any limiting decisions, together with any unresolved fears, it frees us up to make more empowering choices. We can then be really honest with ourselves about what we really want.
Being clear about exactly what you want is the key to pursuing and achieving your heart’s dreams and desires. A great way to get clarity about what you really want is to brainstorm for ten minutes and write down everything you want to do, feel, hear, have, be, achieve and experience in your life. Avoid editing your words, just write down whatever comes to mind.
Then once you have your list, choose one thing you would like to achieve this year in each area of your life. These become your goals for the year. Now it’s time to get motivated about taking action! Always have a purpose for taking any action and for doing anything in life. A great way to do this is to write down as many compelling reasons as you can for the goals you chose. The more compelling reasons you have for doing something, the more motivation you have for achieving it, and getting exactly what you want.
If you have been lacking motivation, clarity or have been putting off, avoiding or meaning to do certain things, now is the time to make that decision to do it. Commit to yourself and take action. With enough action, before you know it, you will be purposefully and passionately pursuing your dreams and goals.
