It's only fair to share…

Senior man giving woman piggyback ride

How many of us want to feel that boundless energy again or that excitement for life? How many of us want to keep our minds clear and sharp, to resist illnesses and disease? Who doesn’t want to feel good the rest of his or her life?

Inflammation is at the heart of poor health. Despite your family history, you CAN make small changes in your lifestyle that will help control your genetic destiny and live healthier and happier than you ever thought possible.

Do you know we have 80-90% control in how healthy we are and how we age?

With the right nutrition and lifestyle, you can prevent and address major diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic inflammation, which are the root cause of these and other illness and diseases. By eating the right foods, we are providing the kind of environment that allows our cells to flourish and in return provide you with vitality and energy.

Tip #1 Choose Super Foods!

Most foods today are nutrient poor and so are our diets. With the consumption of more refined food with less to sustain us, we often feel stressed, run down and lacking in vibrant health. To help ensure your optimal health, Super foods are key. Super foods are foods that contain a higher level and broader range of nutrients than other foods and thus, help you lower inflammation. They are nutrient dense foods that help you effectively maintain or lose your weight, fight disease, age slower and live longer.

Remember, you are what you eat. Whether you are eating a Snickers bar or a spinach salad..those foods begin working with your body and essentially become you.

Imagine a super food — not a drug — powerful enough to help you lower your risk of heart disease, cancer, help you age slower and put you in a better mood. Did I mention that there are no side effects? Guess what? These life-changing super foods are available right now in your grocery store.

Examples of Super Foods are:

Apples, avocados, beans, blueberries, broccoli, chocolate, extra virgin olive oil, garlic, pumpkin and salmon.
By adding super foods to your diet, you will be reducing your intake of refined and processed foods.

Tip #2 Move Your Body!

Fitness is key in creating super health. Exercise, such as cardio, strength training and flexibility, is not something that comes in a bottle or a pill. It comes from your mindset, your physical abilities and your energy level. This is why optimal nutrition is so vital to super health because without it, you will not have the clear mindset or energy to be effective.

There are dozens of reasons why exercise is good for you. Being fit reduces inflammation in your body. Exercise helps you lose and maintain your weight, extends your life span, and decreases your risk for a whole host of illness and diseases by reducing inflammation, controlling your blood sugar, maintains healthy bones and muscles, helps prevent cardiovascular disease and cancer and so much more. You cannot create super health without adding exercise to the equation.

It is vital to exercise with moderate – intensity most days of the week for a minimum of 30 minutes. However, there are options to shortening your workout times and create highly effective fitness with techniques such as HIIT.

High Intensity Interval Training or HIIT is a workout that will allow you to lose up to 9 times more fat than a similar cardio workout.

An example of HIIT: a runner would alternate 30-40 seconds of jogging or walking with 15-20 seconds of intense walking or jogging.

There is another form of HIIT called the “Little Method.” You perform 1 minute of intense exercise followed by 75 seconds of rest, then repeat 8 times. You train only 3 times a week and obtain gains similar to those who trained 5 times per week using steady cardio.

Many people think they don’t like to exercise – until they start doing it consistently. Remember that it is not as

difficult as you think. Put conscious thought into getting enough movement into your daily life to keep you strong physically and mentally and soon it will become second nature.

Tip #3 Hydrate!

Water is essential to vibrant super health. Our bodies are mostly water. The brain? 85% water! Every function in the body is related to water. When there is too much water outside our cells and not enough inside, you become dehydrated.

Do you know that most people are walking around mildly dehydrated and do not even know it? By the time you are thirsty, you are already 1-2% dehydrated. Dehydrated cells cannot function properly and thus, all processes slow down in the body creating fatigue, joint pain, weight gain, hunger, foggy thinking, pain, lethargy and a multitude of other health issues.

How much water should you drink? Take your body weight, divide it by two and the answer is the amount of ounces you need each day. For example, if you weigh 120 lbs. you would need 60 ounces of water each day. This does not include water lost due to exercise.

By applying these three tips consistently to your daily life, you will resist illness, disease, faster ageing and create a quality life of Super Health!
